1797年，在位於蘇格蘭東北部的埃爾甘創立的老字號BRAS 品牌「約翰斯頓斯·埃爾甘」。
200多年來，約翰斯頓HOME 和哈里森 HOME 家族一直參與經營， Cashmere 及Vicuna 、美利奴 Wool 、Lamb 羊毛、 Camel 毛髮等高級材料製作的 FABRIC 、SCARF 、家居 FUR 用品等持續生產。至今仍從原材料的精選到紡紗、織造(機織)、編織等全過程在自家工廠內進行，是英國唯一的 BRAS 品牌。
自1840年代以來的格子圖案，作為現代英國風格的標誌性圖案，持續受到全世界的喜愛。
