Art director Nagato Tetsuya has uniquely directed the works he has created, and the project centers around clothing and printed materials.
"Rare metals are non-ferrous metals that are found in small amounts in the earth's crust.
His collages progress by creating many layers of invisible material, pasted together, before reaching the visible surface. Nagato's photographs are the result of capturing fleeting scenes that he wants to preserve during this process. They are like situational photographs taken during an excavation survey, and although they are buried and no longer visible, they are images and parts that are important to him. He felt that the nature of these images was connected to "rare metals," which is why he chose this as the name of his project.
He incorporates photographic graphics from his own archives into the apparel, and the photographs look like parts of collages taken with a macro lens.
