A 6-inch plate made from "Mikage coarse pottery," a characteristic of Matsusuke kiln, which is easy to incorporate into everyday dining. The form, shaped by artisans through carving, is beautiful and exudes warmth. The design with a carved rim highlights the contrast between the glazed areas and the rough pottery surface. The soft color, which is not pure white, enhances the dishes. It is a size that is easy to use as a side dish or serving plate. Mino ware is known as one of the three major pottery production areas in Japan. It is said that ash-glazed pottery has been produced since the Heian period.
Founded in the late Edo period in Shimoishi, Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. With a history of about 180 years, it is a prestigious kiln that has also produced traditional craftspeople. It continues to create vessels that utilize the charm of techniques and materials cultivated over many years.
